Business insurance - designed for the unexpected

A fire has completely destroyed an office block in Chorley, it was the work of arsonists. Businesses need to be aware of the legal requirement to carry out fire assessment and compliance checks annually and to make sure their business insurance covers them for all likely risks.

The fire, at Chorley Business Services, was so intense that the building was bull-dozed the next day. The fire started on Monday 1st June in the early hours so thankfully the offices and workshops were empty, but twenty nearby residents had to be evacuated.

One business owner, an electrical expert, said that he had lost seventeen years worth of business contacts, as well as everything he needed to run his business. He also said that he didn't prepare for something like this because he didn't think it would ever happen.

If you do not have sufficient business insurance cover and disaster recovery procedures in place then a disaster like this could mean the end of your business.
